Gabrielle O’Flaherty was born and educated in Waterford, Ireland, later continuing her studies in England and the USA. She now lives with her family in San Diego, California. She is passionate about writing, travel, and nature, and is an accomplished artist and sculptor.
Much of her artwork features dancers, reflecting her love of dance, from ballet to hip-hop. It also features flower motifs, as well as tributes to other works of art and the beauty of the female form.
Her book “The Night of the Red Tide” was written over a two-year period during the pandemic. The idea for her story came to her on a magical night of a red tide, when the breaking waves were shining bioluminescent blue. It has over eighty illustrations, many of which were provided by photographers and conservationists from around the world.
